VIATEC WELCOMES DAILYSPLICE AS A NEW MEMBER

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Victoria BC, July 23, 2008 – DailySplice is proud to be the newest member of VIATeC, Vancouver Island’s conduit for connecting people, resources and knowledge in the technology sector. With the help and support of the VIATeC community, the company hopes to grow into one of Victoria’s notable up and coming new companies over the next year.

DailySplice was first established in September 2007 when the founders, won a local business plan competition hosted by the IDC worth $15,500. Since then, the company has been working around the clock to provide a better solution to podcast discovery and distribution. Over the year, the company has become good friends with other members of the VIATeC community. “We are now happy to be one of the VIATeC companies, we feel a little more real now and look forward to participating in all the fun and educational stuff we’ve been watching them do for the past year.”

Over the next year, DailySplice will be on the lookout for keen web development, online marketing, and sales talent to help bring their product to market. The company has completed its initial set of products and will be launching and releasing features over the next few months. The company looks forward to seeing its ideas get put into use, and hopes to find others to join the team and share in that excitement.

DailySplice’s mission is to modernize the concept of radio by creating customized stations that you can play online, subscribe to through email or RSS, or embed on your personal or corporate webpage. You can quickly find relevant content from a library of thousands of podcasts and then build a “Splice Station,” for personal routine or for a targeted audience. DailySplice is now available at dailysplice.com.

The VITP, now employing 1300 people, represents the greatest concentration of high-tech companies and workers on Vancouver Island. Many of the 28 current VITP tenants —a cluster of fuel cell, new media, wireless, life science, biotech, ocean technology and information communications technology companies—got their start at UVic, involve UVic graduates or employ UVic co-op students.
