UVic Students Successful at Enterprize 2008 National Business Plan Competition

Victoria BC, February 4, 2008 -DailySplice, a technology company started by a group of UVic Students presented their business plan this weekend at the national finals of Enterprize 2008 and took home $10,000. DailySplice was up against the 12 top teams from across Canada, where they presented in front of 300 student delegates, professionals, and judges. This is the fourth competition the company has won since it was founded in September 2007, bringing the total value of their prizes to $27,500. Enterprize is the largest student business plan competition in Canada.

“We’re as excited about the money as we are about the feedback we got from the judges and audience after the competition,” Said Rian Bowden, CEO of DailySplice. “The audience enjoyed our presentation the most because they could relate to it and want to use our product, and the judges sat down with us after and gave us some very encouraging feedback.”

With all of the other four final round presenters being medical companies, most of whom have been in business several years and already risen up to $200,000 in financing, the four-month old web company was up against some stiff competition. But the team was able to impress the judges and audience with novel ideas, compressive industry expertise, and proof that their product was close to market.

DailySplice released a part of its service to all web users just a few days before the competition and is now looking for private equity financing to bring the product to the world.
