DAILYSPLICE GOES TO NATIONALS IN ENTERPRIZE

Student Company Wins Three Awards in Four Months at Business Competitions

Victoria BC, January 17, 2008 -Victoria’s DailySplice competed with the top student startups in BC and Alberta on Saturday winning $2000 in cash prizes and moving to the national finals for Enterprize 2008. This is the third award for the 4 month old company, which now has collected $17,500 in total prizes. The company will be returning to Vancouver next week to compete for the top prize of $20,000.

The two founders, Rian Bowden and Lewis Sobotkiewicz have fine tuned their presenting skills over the past four months. “We’re on about our 20th iteration of our business pitch, and each time we change it we practice for at least a few hours.” says Bowden. This is the fourth time the company has formally presented their full business plan.

But there’s much more to DailySplice than a finely-tuned business plan. In the past four months the company has managed to produce a working and testable version of their software, secured over $30,000 in financing, set up offices with full two full time employees, and established themselves in the local tech community as a serious up-and-coming web company worth watching carefully. “These competitions are fun and we get to meet a lot of people, but I think the reason we are winning is because we’ve been executing on the plan since the day we wrote the first draft.” says Sobotkiewicz, the company’s CTO.
